- The report must be filed by the owner of the damaged property or authorized representative or the finder of property or authorized representative
- A valid email address
- The address of the location where the crime took place and contact address information
- A driver's licence, proof of ownership, insurance information (if applicable)
Online Reporting

The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) encourages citizens and visitors to report all crimes that occur in Lethbridge.
Certain crimes can be reported online:
- Lost property (not including licence plates)
- Theft that is valued at less than $5,000 (Not including vehicles or licence plates)
- Damage/Mischief to Property that is valued at less $5,000
- Theft from Vehicle when valued at less than $5,000
- Damage/Mischief to Vehicle when valued at less than $5,000
- Information Only
Before you file on online, be aware that:
- You can only report incidents that occur within the City of Lethbridge
- The online reporting system is not monitored 24/7
- You may need to turn off pop-up blocking software before submitting the Online Crime Report.
- Filing a false police report is a crime
Information needed when submitting an Online Crime Report
Processing of Online Crime Reports
- After you submit your completed online police report, you will see the words: "Your online police report has been submitted," indicating your police report is complete
- You will be notified by email of a temporary case number and will be able to print an unofficial copy of the police report for your records
- The case will be reviewed. You may be contacted if further investigation is required. If staff have no further questions about your report, you will receive an email including a permanent case number and a copy of your report which can be used for insurance purposes
Remember - filing a false police report is a crime.
When should the police be called instead?
- If you have a known suspect, such as when:
- You or someone else knows the person who committed the crime or where to find them
- You or someone else knows the licence plate number of the vehicle the person who committed the crime
- If you are in possession of any evidence, such as
- items that the suspect brought to the scene to commit the crime and left behind
- video evidence
- If someone broke into your home, shed, garage, business, RV, storage unit or business
- If the value of the theft, loss, or property damage is MORE than $5,000
- If this is a theft or loss of a firearm
- If this is related to any form of personal violence, such as assault, robbery, and/or domestic violence
- If this is related to any kind of vandalism or graffiti that could be described as hate motivated
- If this is a theft or loss of government-issued personal identification documents (citizenship cards, permanent resident cards, immigration documents, government cheques, or cash from the government, etc…)
- Note that lost or stolen passports must be reported to Passport Canada
